INTERTEAM, Encounter – Exchange – Development

Guided by this motto, INTERTEAM fights for better living conditions in poverty-stricken countries and to increase Switzerland's solidarity with people in the south. Since 1964.
At the heart of our commitment is the transfer of knowledge, skills and experience to partner organisations. To this end, INTERTEAM organises work assignments for qualified Swiss professionals who carry out development work in Africa or Latin America for three years.
Together we tread new paths and create a sound basis for improving the living conditions of the local population in the long term. So far, we have organised work assignments for more than 2,000 volunteers abroad. They now bring their insights to bear on their activities in Switzerland.

Empowering people in the south to take action

Helping people to help themselves is at the heart of the INTERTEAM activities. As part of the interventions, change is collectively initiated. Thereafter, our local partner organisations independently continue and develop the processes begun.

Stimulating action in the north

Those who want to act in solidarity must first understand the context of the conditions in the south as well as the everyday reality of the underprivileged. INTERTEAM sensitises the Swiss public at various levels, promotes intercultural dialogue and is very active in the area of third-world policies.

Strengthening the basis of existence

Education, nutrition and good health are the basis of a dignified life. It is in these three areas that INTERTEAM is active in Africa (Namibia and Tanzania) as well as Latin America (Bolivia, Columbia, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Honduras).

Sharing knowledge and experience

Approximately 70 specialists with professional experience are working for us. Although volunteers, they are greatly committed to their work. For three years, they contribute their social and professional competence to the local partner organisations in the south.

Making progress together

INTERTEAM believes in long-term success. Our partners are well established locally and prepared to develop along with us.
